Q. How long will my massage last?
A. Massage Therapy sessions vary from about 30
minutes to 2 hours. A 30 minute session is great for one area of the body such as
back and neck. One (1) hour is the typical amount of time for a full-body massage
session with 90 minutes also being quite common. Two (2) hour sessions are available
for everyone but we recommend it to be done for those who are used to receiving massage
therapy regularly.

Q. Will you send me your picture? Are
there several therapists that I can pick and choose from? How will you be Dressed?
Do you wear lingerie or High Heels?
A. I get these questions asked of me all the
time. Sounds to me like someone is looking for more than a massage. I will not
send you my picutre. Receiving massage should not depend on my looks nor the looks
of my Massage staff. My looks, and how my Massage Therapists look are not
important. We have Male and Female Massage Therapists oncall. I will schedule
your appointment with myself or with an available massage therapist. We dress in an
appropriate and professional manner. We will NOT be nude, semi-nude, scantily
dressed or be wearing high heels.

Q. Does the Massage Therapist expect me to
"talk" during the massage?
A. No. The decision to "talk"
is entirely yours. Your Massage is to be at YOUR comfort level. You can choose
to talk or be quiet. Being quiet can enhance your relaxation during the massage if
you are comfortable with that. We therapist understand and welcome that enhancement.
If you wish to talk during the massage, the therapist will probably accommodate you.
During the Massage there may be a moment the therapist will ask you questions according to
procedures the therapist may ask you pertinent questions.

Q. Do I need to be totally undressed during
the Massage? How should I dress?
A. You can be dressed or undressed to YOUR
comfort level. We use full draping with a sheet and expose only the body part
actually being massaged. You can be totally nude or leave your underwear on.
The way you are dressed to your massage does not matter.

Q. Does Massage have to be painful in order
for me to know that I've gotten a real good massage?
A. You know this is a very good question and I
get this asked all the time. A Massage should not hurt. If you are a client
that likes alot of pressure during the Massage let us know and we can accomodate you.
If the Massage Therapist is using too much pressure or not enough please let them
know during the massage and not after the Massage. Many clients come in with pain
already. Their muscles are so tight and sore that we use techniques that do not
require much pressure in order to get the muscles to soften up but we can give you as much
pressure as you'd like for your Massage.

Q. Is Deep Tissue Massage really painful?
A. Another good question. Our Deep
Tissue Massage is not painful. The way we do Deep Tissue Massage at Lydia's Massage
Therapy is from a more gentle approach. We get to the source of pain by using the
most minimal amount of compression or pressure in order to relase tight muscles.
It's still deep, just not painful.

Q. Can massage therapy help me with pain from
my medical condition?
A. Yes. Massage Therapy can help to
lessen or eliminate pain stemming from a wide range of medical conditions that include low
back pain, neck pain and whiplash, fibromyalgia, lupus, myofascial pain syndrome,
sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, tmj pain, migraines, and others. Some of the
techniques we use for pain relief such as Neuromuscular
Therapy (NMT), Myofascial Release
(MFR), Natural Reflex Therapy
(NRT), and Ortho-Bionomy (OB) are
highly effective in providing relief from pain. There are some conditions for which
massage therapy is contraindicated, ask your doctor and make sure to tell your Massage
Therapist, what condition you're seeking relief for.

Q. I bruise easily, can I still get a massage?

Therapist that you bruise easily and why i.e. medications, medical condition, etc.
Your Massage Therapist can adjust his/her pressure and technique to prevent or minimize
bruising.

Q. I went to another massage therapist and
they said that my knots had to be relieved by "digging them out" which was quite
painful, is that right?
A. To my knowledge it's not right. Knots
in muscles, even deeper muscles, can usually be relieved with light or moderate pressure
that causes little discomfort.

Q. Do you offer Healing Stone Massage,
Therapeutic Hot Stone Massage, River Stone Massage or something like that?
A. Yes, we do. Therapeutic Hot Stone
Massage is very healing. The heat of the stones is very therapeutic penetrating to
the joints through the skin, muscles and tendons!! Everyone can benefit from Hot
Stone Massage and I highly recommend it if you have Arthritis or Fibromyalgia. The
stones are heated from 110-120 degrees. Don't worry you will not be burned by the
stones. You will find it to be a very relaxing experience, try it. When you
call to make your appointment please let us know that you'd like to schedule a Hot Stone Massage.
